Every year there are more than 200,000 cardiac arrests in US hospitals. Less than 25% of patients survive. That’s a big opportunity to save more lives!
We know that rapid delivery of high-quality CPR is the greatest determinant of survival from cardiac arrest. The delivery of poor-quality CPR leads to poor patient outcomes and is considered a preventable harm. These hospitals have decided to do better.
Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) is creating a new reality in resuscitation performance. RQI is a clinical quality improvement program that saves more lives. Providers practice their CPR skills in 10 minute sessions every quarter so they are always fresh. The immediate feedback coaches them so they are competent and confident to respond to a cardiac arrest. In addition, analytics for RQI provides information to leadership that can be used to assess, plan, and strengthen both individual and team performance.
The American Heart Association Resuscitation Quality Improvement Program (RQI)® is a proven approach for achieving and maintaining competency of high-quality CPR skills. It combines real-time feedback on CPR skills with robust analytics to provide the foundation for continuous quality improvement in your hospital resuscitation program. RQI gives providers the competence and confidence to respond to a cardiac arrest. The AHA is leading the way in resuscitation quality improvement and saving more lives with the RQI program.
